"CAPTURING THE HORNACHOS"
Adjacent to the interventions, points of interest, and program activities, the sculptures of the "hornachos" are located. Each hornacho aims to sculpturally indicate the landmarks of the "promenade" through the village, so that by following the sequence and completing the journey, a complete and rich experience of the Cordoban village is obtained. This provides a kind of treasure hunt, like a scavenger hunt, allowing visitors of all ages to learn in a fun and engaging manner.
The fundamental interest lies in the enhancement of its own idiosyncrasy, understanding that in this way the urban space is truly activated. A program of uses (permanent and temporary) will serve as a structure to make this possible. In this manner, the project is envisioned as replete with vibrant, ever-changing, and active spaces. The proposal arises from the juxtaposition of architectural interventions in buildings and squares that enhance the quality of the place on one hand, and a system that enables the efficient and optimal use of each of these places on the other hand.
The operation involves the implementation of a device - the hornacho: a sculptural element that reinterprets these cavities - capable of reactivating with its mere presence and the activity it generates around it, the public space of the village. All of this is part of the circuit where the game plays an essential role as an active form of learning. The hornacho is understood as a sculpture, somewhere between the ephemeral and the permanent. Constructed with a double skin: an exterior made of cellulose paste, and an interior made of fired clay, it seeks to evoke the rough materiality of caves or cavities.
Similar to an archaeologist delving into caves to explore the past and reconstruct the traces of history, the visitor will immerse themselves in the hornachos with the goal of almost blindly learning about the place. Afterward, with a renewed perspective, they will be able to truly appreciate the potential of the place. The name "Hornachuelos" refers to the numerous metal smelting furnaces that existed in prehistoric and Roman times in the area, and there are also many nearby prehistoric caves on the plateau where the village sits.
THE WALKWAY, THE SQUARES, AND THE CASTLE

The operation in the Castle and its Walls consists primarily of revitalizing the Plaza de Armas (Armory Square) and creating a new one, in a specular manner, on the southern facade. To achieve this, some volumes that hinder the enjoyment and understanding of the walls in their entirety are decided to be demolished. Additionally, a walkway is created that establishes horizontal and vertical communications as a promenade, enabling access to the upper part of the walls and their circuit, as well as the visitation of the Plaza de Armas from different balconies situated at varying levels. A dialogue with the past is established by recreating the lost volume of the eastern stretch of the wall with a new access staircase.

We understand that tourism plays a crucial role in this activation process. However, it is also decided to qualify the spaces for more rooted use, both for the current residents and for those who choose to spend a season in the village. It is proposed that the spaces of this place full of memories adapt to contemporaneity, transforming into a center to support entrepreneurial development (CADE). It is conceived as a multidisciplinary space where professionals of various fields coexist. It is envisioned as a space for entrepreneurship, personal and professional development, capable of generating a community of shared interests that also creates a new glocal identity.
